Deputy Public Advocate

Damon PrestonDamon Preston is DPA’s Deputy Public Advocate.  After graduating from Transylvania University and Harvard Law School, Damon began his legal career in the Criminal Appeals Branch of the Legal Aid Society in New York City.  After joining DPA in 1997, he worked in the Richmond, Paducah, and Cynthiana trial offices before moving to DPA’s central office in Frankfort in 2004 where he served as Appeals Branch Manager and Trial Division Director prior to being appointed Deputy Public Advocate in January 2011.

General Counsel

Scott WestBrian Scott West is General Counsel for the Department of Public Advocacy and was DPA Regional Manager for the Bluegrass Region from 2007-2011. Scott was the Directing Attorney for DPA’s Murray Field Office for five years, and a staff attorney in the Hazard Office for three years.  A graduate of the University of Kentucky Law School (1988), and Vanderbilt University (1985), Scott was a staff attorney and then senior attorney for ten years at Texaco Inc., in Houston, Texas, before joining DPA in 1999.  He is married to Beverley and father to Hannah.  They live in Richmond.
