Gerald DeRossett Appointed Hazard Directing Attorney

(4/16/2021) Gerald DeRossett is the Directing Attorney at the Hazard Trial Office. Gerald is a lifelong resident of Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He graduated from Transylvania University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Minors in History and Economics. He received his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1988. He was in private practice for more than 30 years as a partner in a general ligation practice, Pillersdorf, DeRossett & Lane. He has practiced extensively in criminal law at both state and federal trial levels as well as in the appellate courts. He served as Past President of the Floyd County Bar Association for 8 years. He joined the Department of Public Advocacy at the Hazard Trial Office in 2020 as a Staff Attorney II. Over the years, he has worked with Department of Public Advocacy as a conflict attorney.

In addition to his legal practice, he is President of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, East Kentucky Bridge Builders Chapter, President of the Floyd County Homeless Shelter, Chairman of the First Baptist Learning Center and a Sunday school teacher. In his spare time, he is an avid Trap Shooter and most enjoys being his nieces and nephews favorite Uncle.
