The Advocate is the Department of Public Advocacy’s Journal of Criminal Justice Education and Research. First published in 1978, the Journal has evolved from a printed newsletter about the Department into a research journal focused on developing Kentucky law affecting practice in criminal court. Over time, many of the insights found in The Advocate have been incorporated into DPA’s Courtroom Manual Series for quicker reference by defenders. New issues of the Advocate are no longer published on a regular basis, however special releases and all of The Advocate’s historical issues can be located below.
